Prior to joining Big Issue Invest, Amelia was the Communications Director and Chief Editor for the United Nations Association of Australia. She has worked as a communications and fundraising specialist for various national charities in Australia and Spain. Annie joined Big Issue Invest in 2014. Before this Annie spent over four years at Kreos Capital, a growth finance investment fund, where she was involved in screening, due diligence and ongoing monitoring of investments. Annie also has experience working in charity investment management. Annie has a degree in International History from LSE and holds the Investment Management Certificate from the CFA Society of the UK.

Archie joined Big Issue Invest in 2014. Archie manages the CSV fund which provides corporate mentoring and finance to early stage social enterprises. His day to day includes financial modelling and business planning for early stage social businesses. Archie holds an BA in Social Policy and an MSc in Philosophy from the LSE. His research interests are focused on the role big data will play in the consumer credit market.

Cressida joined BII in 2016 on a maternity cover as Social Impact Manager. Cressida started her career in the NHS and has worked for domestic and international charities for the last ten years. She has an interest in the use of evidence for quality improvement. Before joining, Cressida worked for Macmillan Cancer Support commissioning and managing funded research projects.

Daniel started his career at Deloitte, working for 10 years in audit, tax and transaction services. Danny is a qualified chartered accountant and tax advisor. Prior to joining BII in October 2011, Danny worked for a year in the constituency office of an inner-city London MP, gaining practical experience of social issues. Danny’s primary responsibilities at BII are analysing and structuring investments for the SEIF and Loan Funds.

Ed has over 30 years of corporate finance, social investment and business consulting experience. He spent the early part of his career in commercial banking, mainly with Credit Suisse, and was Vice President and head of the Small Business Banking practice of ShoreBank International where he managed small business investment funds and advised financial institutions in the developing world. Ed has an MBA in Finance from New York University.

Elaine joined BII in September 2014 as Executive Assistant to the Senior Management team at BII. Elaine is an experienced EA. She spent 26 years at HSBC and held various clerical, finance and project management positions; she then worked in the political arena for eight years supporting the Chair and Executive of a main political party. Externally Elaine is heavily committed to her Scout Group.

Prior to joining BII in 2013, Glenn managed a range of national programmes for UK-wide community enterprise networks, as well as spending two years working with non-governmental organisations in Indonesia. James has over 33 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He worked at Martin Currie for 29 years chairing the global products group, moving to Deputy and then Chief Investment Officer. Responsibilities included performance, investment strategy, marketing, client service, investment floor and regional office reporting lines. James studied social impact investing at Oxford University and is also a Prince’s Trust business mentor.

John has worked in the Social Enterprise and Housing Sector for the last 14 years. John established and grew TREES a £9m multidisciplinary social enterprise based in the East midlands and in 2012 joined BII as Director of Early Stage Business. Prior to joining BII, John led the SPARK programme, the precursor programme to Corporate Social Venturing ‘CSV’.

Before joining BII in December 2016, Katy worked as a corporate finance advisor with ClearlySo, Social Finance and Varthana, supporting social enterprise and impact investment funds to raise capital. Katy started her career in corporate and investment banking with RBS and UBS. She has undergraduate degrees in English and Financial Services and is a CFA Charterholder. Kate is also a director of the Financial Inclusion Forum.

Kevin has worked with social enterprises for the past 12 years helping early stage organisations raise finances and grow. Prior to joining BII he worked for UnLtd on their pioneering Big Venture Challenge Programme. He has a degree in political theory from Swansea University and he studied at Birmingham City University for his MBA. Originally from Bradford, West Yorkshire, he now lives in Birmingham.

Lars has over 15 years experience in direct investment and investment management. He started his career in Berlin with BDO in the Corporate Finance Team before moving to London to work for SISU Capital, sourcing and managing direct Private Equity investments. Lars worked in the Middle East managing investments into education and healthcare before joining BII as an Investment Director.
Madeleine joined Big Issue Invest in June 2015. Her role at BII is to support investees in develop their social impact practice and to lead on the measurement, analysis and reporting of BII’s social impact. Madeleine began her career working in housing and social security before moving into the charity sector. Prior to joining Big Issue Invest, she was responsible for evaluating services at the children’s charity Buttle UK.

Before joining Big Issue Invest Scotland in 2015, she was leading the charity Disability Information Scotland. For the seven years preceding that role she was Senior Project Manager at Pilotlight. Prior to that she held roles working both at grassroots community level and across a number of social inclusion projects. She has held several board positions over the years and recently joined the board of the Smart Play Network.

Natalia’s professional background is in training and development. She spent 10 years working for higher education institutions in both teaching and non-teaching roles. Natalia became National Coordinator for BizFizz, an enterprise programme developed by the New Economics Foundation (nef). Prior to joining BII Natalia has also run her own consultancy practice working on a number of nationally funded programmes working with social enterprises.

Nigel is a leading social entrepreneur and advocate of social enterprise and social finance. Since 1974, he has had first-hand experience of starting, building and running social enterprises. He joined The Big Issue in 1994 becoming its Managing Director and then the Chair of The Big Issue Group and in 2005 the first CEO of Big Issue Invest. Previously, Nigel founded three printing and publishing social enterprises and has also worked as a project manager, systems analyst, litho printer and trade union official. Nigel trained as a lithographic printer and gained his Diploma in Printing Production with Distinction at the London College of Printing where he later became Chair of the Board of Governors. In 2008, he was the winner of the Institute of Directors’ Good Enterprise Award and in 2013, Social Enterprise UK’s ‘Champion of Champions’. In 2010, Nigel was awarded an OBE for services to Social Enterprise.
